Admission Criteria

Criteria for Acceptance

1. Client must be between the ages of 12 - 24
2. Client must be diagnosed as having a substance abuse or chemical dependency problem.

Criteria for Non-Acceptance and Referral

1. Client is actively suicidal/homicidal.

Other issues that can potentially coincide with substance abuse/chemical dependency which are commonly addressed at
Sundown Ranch:

1. Academic difficulties
2. Communication
3. Lack of respect for others
4. Running away
5. Lying
6. Rejection or rules or authority
7. Lack of emotional bonding
8. Low self-esteem
9. Difficulties in regulation of mood
10. Poor decision making
11. Inappropriate peer relationships
12. Disruption of healthy family functioning
